On Sunday, June 8, 2008 the Rialto showed 'Cinema Paradiso' as it’s last film in the spirit of all the art, independent, and foreign treasures we have been presenting since 2000. 

A single screen theatre is an anachronism. 

Multiplexes abound and compete with each other and a single screen theatre doesn't have a good chance to survive. The property has been sold and the building will be repurposed with stores and offices.

In case an opportunity develops to run such a venue elsewhere (and a patron to fund it) we will save subscribers’ email addresses to notify them.

We thank our patrons for their loyalty and support of the Rialto, the last single-screen, independent, family-owned movie theatre in Bergen County which was located at 172 Main Street, in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey.
